OPEN WATER DIVER 20

Open Water Diver (OWD) is an entry-level autonomous diver certification for recreational scuba diving. Although different agencies use different names, similar entry-level courses are offered by all recreational diving agencies and consist of a combination of knowledge development (theory), confined water dives (practical training) and open water dives (experience) suitable to allow the diver to dive on open circuit scuba, in open water to a limited depth and in conditions similar to those in which the diver has been trained or later gained appropriate experience, to an acceptable level of safety.

Complete your Open Water Diver 20 course within 3 days with classroom academics, confined water skills and a total of 4 Open Water dives.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN?

WORLD DIVERS Open Water Scuba Diver Course will give you the necessary skills and knowledge for open water scuba diving, including:

  • The aquatic environment: vision, light, sound, heat loss, tides, currents, waves, surge, etc.
  • Physics and physiology: buoyancy, pressure, air spaces, breathing compressed air, mixed gases, etc.
  • Dive equipment selection, assembly, use and maintenance
  • Dive planning
  • Basic scuba skills including mask and regulator skills, swimming underwater, buoyancy control, basic rescue techniques, and emergency procedures
  • And a lot more of other interesting knowledge and fun.

UPON COMPLETION AND CERTIFICATION:

Upon successful completion of the PDIC Open Water 20 Scuba Diver course, graduates may:

  • Conduct open water dives in conditions similar to their training
  • Continue their dive education by enrolling Advanced Open Water Diver 30 or selected Specialty courses, either thru PDIC or any other recognized agency.

PDIC OPEN WATER DIVER 20 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS MEET AND EVEN EXCEED INTERNATIONAL MINIMUM STANDARDS OF WRSTC AND EUF:

  • Demonstrate mature and sound judgment concerning dive planning and execution
  • Satisfactorily complete the PDIC Open Water Scuba Diver 20 knowledge review
  • Complete all open water requirements safely and efficiently

RATIOS:

Our safety, beign the most conservative in the dive industry will only allow our instructor to conduct course programs with rations 1:4.

JUNIOR DIVER REQUIREMENTS (10-15 years old):

  • Minimum age 10 with parental consent
  • Students between the ages of 10 through 14 may obtain an PDIC Junior Open Water Scuba Diver 12 Certification if the following conditions are met: junior students are to train and dive under the direct supervision of a parent, guardian, or active dive professional
  • When a PDIC Junior Open Water Diver 12 reaches the age of 15, they will be automatically upgrade to a PDIC Open Water Scuba Diver 20 certification after following a refresher with a PDIC dive professional.

SWIMMING SKILLS:
(PDIC SEA provide LEARN-TO-SWIM certification for the candidate who want to complete the Open Water Diver 20 course and who do not have the required swimming skills) *fees applied

  • Swimming evaluation (Must be completed prior to any scuba skill being taught)
    • Distance swim of 200 meters non-stop using any stroke without the use of mask, snorkel or any swimming aids, or 300 meters non-stop using mask, snorkel, and fins
    • Survival swim/float of 10 minutes

CERTIFICATION:

Maximum depth 20 meters.
Junior (10-15) maximum depth 12 meters.
